I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I'm not sure I could mentally handle another recovery process after surgery...

I feel I should preface this by saying my insurance is great when it comes to the % they pay but horrible when it comes to what they'll cover. I've had boots in the past I had to pay $1,000 for because they wouldn't cover them.

My insurance did cover the ice pack, because it was provided through and billed to me by the hospital. It was such a great thing to have. My knee scooter was considered a luxury by insurance and so I am paying about $80 a month to rent one, but it was a must for me to return to work in a library. I recommend both (as well as a nerve block as you may well know). Good luck!

Been a while so I thought I'd update. I've been in therapy now for about 5 weeks and will need more time there than originally planned. With every new exercise comes swelling, so it's a longer process. I am back to driving, walking in shoes, and riding bikes finally. Saw the surgeon at my 3 month mark this last week and he said it looks like I'll make a 100% recovery. I have to wait fort MRI's at the 6 month mark to really know for certain but when comparing my X-rays (which showed a tiny hint of the OCD) it looked gone in the new X-rays. The bad news is that I can't begin running or sports until 2015 at soonest, much longer than I was originally expected to be back to sports without worry. Just got to stay patient...
