Second surgery outcome??
« on: August 11, 2017, 10:44:52 PM »
My initial surgery was May 2016 and now a year post I am planning for my second. First included debridement and microfracturing and lateral ligament repair. Now the lesion healed only 50%. So they want to go back in and do another debridement with microfracturing and stem cells. Has anyone had a second procedure done??  I am Super nervous about doing his again but I am still having a fair amount of discomfort. I'm afraid the second one won't heal
Well either. Any insight on second surgeries and your outcome??

I'm not a big fan of microfracture if the lesions are large.

Mine didn't work that well. My ankle was pretty bad before the surgery and it's pretty bad afterwards. All in all not worth the time and cost and recovery IMO as I have the same experience, maybe 5-10% degraded

I feel like microfracture is every surgeon's "safe answer". They know things can't really go that badly, and they know they can go do microfracture again if the 1st doesn't take. In my opinion they have no good solution as of yet so they default to microfracture
